Meet. Dr. Kelly Paxton

Introduction

Dr. Paxton has been practicing dentistry in the Hampton Roads area for the past 17 years. In that time, her patients have come to rely on her for her exceptional and compassionate care.  Through her comprehensive approach to treatment, she ensures that all of her patients receive the care they need to achieve optimal health.  This was the type of care Dr. Rutledge has been seeking to help treat his growing practice.

Dedication to Dentistry

Dr. Paxton’s post-graduate training has connected her with similar educators as Dr. Rutledge.  Education in dentistry is an ongoing process that never ends, thanks to continuous advancements in patient care.  Her recent focus has been on all aspects of cosmetic dentistry, and she is working towards accreditation with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.  She has additionally completed over 300 hours of continuing education in the field of implant dentistry.  Since 2013, she has been a provider of Invisalign and participates in year-round continuing education to keep up with the latest practices and techniques in her field.  Dr. Paxton stays up to date with national dental standards through the American Dental Association and locally through the Tidewater Dental Association.  For over 15 years, she has been using CEREC technology that allows a permanent crown to be placed in one visit, reducing the need for temporaries.  Dr. Paxton believes that recent advancements in technology can make dental visits shorter and more comfortable for patients.

Education

Dr. Paxton was born and raised in Michigan and earned a Biology degree from the University of Detroit Mercy while running on their Division 1 Track and Field team.  She continued her education at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2006.  As a teenage dental patient, Dr. Kelly Paxton was inspired to pursue a career in dentistry.  After experiencing her own dental problems, she realized that she too could make a difference in someone’s life.

Family Time

When not in the office making smiles, Dr. Paxton is on the move with her two very active sons. She and her husband, Rob, enjoy sharing their passion for sports, music, and spending time outdoors with their family.  Dr. Paxton finds great satisfaction in enhancing her patients’ smiles, which in turn boosts their confidence.  She is looking forward to meeting you, as well as your family and friends.

Do you have frequent headaches or migraines, earaches or tinnitus, tender jaw muscles, or a dull aching facial pain? Do you often have neck and shoulder pain? Does your jaw lock or stray to one side when you open your mouth? These aches and pains may be related to the jaw joint, called the temporomandibular joint or “TMJ,” and the muscles that work to move the joint.
